I love when spontaneous photoshoots happen. They allow a group of creatives to come together with no strings attached and the end goal of making a beautiful image.

We recently worked with Chris Ossenfort, a fabulous photographer here in Dallas, Texas. Our subject for the day was handsome Trevor Burchett, who also happens to be represented by The Campbell Agency.

We delved into several layers of a gentleman’s persona. Suave, relaxed, urban, and groomed.

Trevor’s hair is cut in an undercut with an extreme side part. His texture is on the coarse side with has great wave pattern to it. I decided to prep the hair with Bumble and Bumble Prep to encourage texture and prime it for product. I then diffused it on low heat and scrunched it with my fingers. I love this product because it shapes effortlessly. I then smoothed a bit of Privé Crème Coiffante to polish and hold.

Skincare for men is a big deal. Men don’t have the advantage of having a full makeup routine so in order to put the best face forward, we need to take care of our skin. My favorite moisturizer is Elemis Moisture Boost. It is very light and is full of natural ingredients such as Cactus Cerus Oil and Bamboo natamilk to soothe and protect skin.

image

Got a blemish or party too hard over the weekend? A pro concealer is great way to perfect your complexion. I know what you’re thinking. Makeup? On a guy? Yes! As long as you choose a correct formula that is in your skin tone and non visible. My favorite one to use is Estée Lauder Double Wear Brush On Concealer . You only need a dot of this product on already moisturized skin. Make sure you pat it in gently with your ring finger to ensure it is blended into the skin.

Be groomed and enjoy the series!

One of my favorite things is to develop a beauty story.

For me, it allows me to express a feeling or use a color that that is not generally used on the face. It allows me to work intimately with the model and photographer to create a piece. One that doesn’t overshadow the model’s  natural beauty.

I worked with the fabulous Morgan Chidsey to create a small set of beauty images with Chloe after capturing images for her portfolio.

Chloe has a striking face with no need for adornment. Just like all of us, adornment only adds more interest and conversation pieces. A wearable mask.

image

I began by using a powerful color to create an inverted triangle of balance and brought the focal point to her lips. A luscious mulberry shade mixed with a burgundy as a nod to the Marsala color trend. I used Iman Luxury Moisturizing Lipstick in shades Taboo and Black Brandy.

image

image

I progressed by creating gilded eyebrow and lashes in metallic gold. For me it adds a bit of flair and sparkle to your eyes. I misted a mascara wand with MAC Fix + and mixed metallic gold from the Makeup Forever Flash Palette. I then brushed it through the eyebrows and lashes for sparkle.

image

image

image

Lastly, continuing with the metallic inspiration, I created a diffused metallic metal look that represents our inner strength. I diffused a small amount of metallic silver over Chloe as to show if she was exposing the metal underneath. Flashes of blue and green patina were dusted on to create a “lived in” metal look that was starting to tarnish.

I hope you enjoyed the series and that you are inspire to add a bit flair to your routine:)

I had the opportunity to work with beautiful Hailey Krieg last week for a portfolio update.

I met Hailey on one of my first professional photo shoots and she was about 16 years old.  It was an awesome sensation to see she has blossomed as a young lady and model.

Teaming with photographer Roy Choudhury,  we developed a non overworked look that was fresh, edgy, and fashionable. With beautiful details in lace and pattern in the clothing, I completed the look by using Privé Finishing Texture Spray in the hair for manageable volume and texture. To create fullness, I had Hailey flip her hair over and I sprayed the product at the root while gently massaging it in for root lift.

image

Afterwards,  I warmed up a dime sized amount of Bumble and Bumble Sumotech in my hands and scrunched it into the hair to create a bedhead texture. Using this technique is perfect for when you are in a rush or on 2 day old hair since it requires minimal time and effort.

I hope you enjoy this beautifully effortless set!

Simple. Free. Not overworked. Beauty.

These are the adjectives we wanted conjure when we worked with Lily.  Photographed by Sergio Garcia with hair and makeup by yours truly, we were able to create fresh and ethereal looks that showed off our muse’s beauty.

Hair texture was created by misting Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray on dry hair.  This encouraged the natural wave pattern to come forth. After letting it dry, I had the model flip her hair over and generously sprayed Bumble and Bumble Cityswept Spray.

For this look, I created a deep on side part to create a “faux” side swept fringe effect. The hair was secured into a low ponytail and wrapped into a simple bun. To add high shine and smooth flyaways, I added a bit if brillantine by Bumble and Bumble.

There is powerful beauty in simplicity. In rawness and barely-there nuances. It attracts light and shows the power within and the vulnerability of one’s body.

This is the route we chose when photographing Alencia Lewis courtesy of The Campbell Agency.

I customized a beauty look with highly moisturized skin, foundation warmed up with my fingers and pressed into the skin, and simple hair.

Creme stick foundations in Golden Honey, Walnut, Mahogany,  and Espresso by Bobbi Brown Cosmetics were seamlessly blended for a sculpted effect.

The skin on the rest of the body was moisturized by combining Josie Maran Argan Oil, African Glycerin, and gold loose eyeshadow.

I hope you enjoy this series!

I recently had the pleasure of working with this lovely young lady on a series including beauty, fashion, and a little attitude.

As an ode to the ending summer, we decided to fabricate a session showcasing breezy and airy fashion provided by Tor Matthey.  The clean and simplistic lines are powerful in each shot.  The have a touch of minimalism and feminism all mixed into one.

The subtle movements that Cadence exuded were perfect and made her seem effortless in such structured clothing. To complement the color palette, I utilized white and mint as my focal points.  I used MAC Chromaline Gel/Cream Liner in Pure White and an angled liner brush.

MC9201

As a highlight and pop, I used Seafoam Green from Dior’s 5 Coulers Couture Colour Eyeshadow Palette in Jardin.

To keep the beauty story cohesive and on trend, I used Maybelline’s Color Show Nail Lacquer in Green With Envy.

Cadence has beautiful undercut that required minimal product. In the slides that have more texture, I used Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray which has sea salt for beautiful lived in beachy texture.  On the smoother slides, I misted the hair with water and groomed it with a dime sized amount of Brilliantine by Bumble and Bumble for shine and structure.

I am anxious for fall and with this session we start bidding adieu to summer. I hope you enjoy this set as much as I do!

One of the biggest trends in fashion, specifically beauty, has been pastel tones. Whether lavender or soft mint is used in the hair or in accessories,  it’s a fun and sporty trend courtesy of the mod revival current in fashion.

We worked with Kasey (who just got back from a modeling tour in South Korea). With bright and cheerful features, I decided to add quick and fun pops of pastel hues mixed from the Makeup Forever Flash Color Palette.

Enjoy!

FEATURE: Grant Farmer courtesy of Wilhelmina Miami, Dragonfly Agency

Model Features

Simple. Clean. Emotional. Pensive.

These are all emotions that Grant delivered during our recent photo session with Samantha Collie. While in Dallas, Grant joined us on set to create one of my favorite male beauty sets ever. A bit Southern gentleman, a little debonair, a little mischievous,  Grant transitioned through different characters.

Grant has perfect skin that just called for a whisper of moisture. I used Jack Black Double Duty Moisturizer with SPF 20 since we where photographing him outside.

image

A bit of tinted moisturizer was buffed onto the skin to even out his tone. I used LAB Series BB Tinted Moisturizer.

Men, it is NOT makeup. I repeat. It is not makeup.  I love this product because it has additional SPF, moisturizes, and has a discreet tint that unifies the tones on the face.

image

Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray was misted through the hair and roughly dried with a blow dryer to provide an easy wavy texture.

image

image

image

Change your hairstyle as well by using a different product as seen on Grant.  For a more distressed look, I layered a bit of MITCH by Paul Mitchell Reformer Paste. A little goes a long way with this matte product.  I use it myself when I want a no-shine finish with soft hold.

image

image

Lastly, try a modern and chic side part. It is dapper for a night on the town or for a formal event. I used Bumble and Bumble Bb Gel and a fine toothed comb.

image

Enjoy the rest of this great series!

What do you get when you have one free hour, creativity,  an awesome team and a camera? THIS!

Inspired by fantasy, watercolors, and elements, we created a simple set of images that reaffirmed our affinity towards the exotic.

Gentle pastels, both in mastefully blended makeup, and in a custom lacefront platinum wig met to create our first image. Part fairy,  part goddess, part fantasy, this image is eerie and beautiful.

image

Our second image creates an illusion of a geisha warrior that is caught in mid run. Bold colors that signify strength, love and passion all meet to create this stunning image. Hand colored wefts using Paul Mitchell Ink Works in Orange, Red, Yellow and Black add drama to the look.

Enjoy!
